Adam El-Abd to miss Egypt’s upcoming clash against Mozambique in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers as does not yet have an Egyptian passport.
Adam El-Abd has seen his hopes of a World Cup debut with Egypt dashed.
The Albion defender has been told passport registering procedures will not be completed in time for the qualifier against Mozambique on Friday.
Egypt boss Bob Bradley revealed in The Argus yesterday there was a delay in processing paperwork for El-Abd, who was born in Brighton and has an Egyptian father.
“The problem is that the procedures need around four months to be completed, which means that the player will be sidelined for a long time,” Egypt’s goalkeeping coach Zaki Abdel-Fattah told Modern Sports TV
Egypt will host Mozambique in the Egyptian army stadium, in Alexandria on Friday before facing Guinea away from home on 10 June in their next Group G game.
