Egyptian Premier League postponed AGAIN!
The Egyptian Premier League will kick off on October 17th instead of September 17th.
The Egyptian Premier League has been postponed for one month as authorities seek to ease tensions following the recent heavy protests of Ahly’s die-hard fans.
Ultras Ahlawy have stormed the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) headquarters last week and vowed not to let Sunday’s Super Cup game between Ahly and ENPPI, the annual season curtain-raiser, to go ahead.
They want the perpetrators of the Port Said disaster, which left over 70 Ahly fans dead on 1 February, be brought to justice before the resumption of domestic football, which has been suspended since the tragedy.
The new Premier League season was due to start on 17 September but the EFA opted to delay it after consulting with the clubs, interior ministry and sports ministry.
