Video: Egypt 0-0 Georgia | Match Video Review
The Egyptian National Team held to a goalless draw at Georgia in today’s friendly game.
Bob Bradley’s men were the dominating side in an insipid first half, with Shikabala, Mohamed Salah and Ahmed Temsah leading the attack.
Hosni Abd-Rabou captained the team, while Ahmed Al-Shennawi, who replaced Essam Al-Hadari in goal, had little to do over the 90 minutes.
Bradley made two half-time substitutions, introducing Amr Zaki and Saleh Gomaa instead of Temsah and Mohamed Al-Nenni.
The Pharaohs, who had to do without the players of Ahly ahead of Saturday’s African Champions League final against Tunisia’s Esperance, notably improved in the second half following the introduction of midfielder Saleh Gomaa and striker Amr Zaki, with the latter wasting two goal-scoring opportunities.
The burly frontman, who plays for Turkish side Elazigspor, saw his curling shot from the edge of the area blocked by Loria, who made another timely interception to deny Zaki following a one-on-one situation seven minutes from time.
Holding midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou was also unlucky to see a powerful volley crash off the bar.
Egypt will not play any competitive game until March next year when they face Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifier.
