Decision to start league season in December comes after meeting between Sports Minister El-Amry Farouk and Interior Minister Ahmed Gamaleddin.
“The interior minister promised to hold another meeting within ten days to announce that the Egyptian Premier League will start at the beginning of December,” read a statement on the EFAs official website on Thursday.
“The Egyptian Premier League season will start soon,” Sports Minister Farouk told reporters after the meeting with the interior minister.
“We are thinking of dividing the league into two groups like in Tunisia,” he added.
“Ahly will be in charge of one group while Zamalek will top the other one.
“We are discussing how to reduce the number of teams in the 2012-2013 season to minimise fan attendance,” El-Amry Farouk said.
