2014 World Cup qualifiers: Cameroon into playoffs

cameroon-2014

A goal by defender Aurelien Chedjou was enough for Cameroon to edge Libya and advance into the ultimate phase of qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup, Brazil 2014.

Chedjou struck a header in the 42nd grabbing the lead for Cameroon. In the second half, Libya emphasized an offensive play style but the lions launched serious assaults in all their attempts. The Libyans were close to the all needed equalizer in the 70th but saw the ball fired on the bar.

Even the departure of Cameroon captain could not guarantee a goal for the Libyans. Cameroon maintained the pressure and domination showing their counterparts that they needed more goals. The last six minutes appeared quite hot with both sides threatening each other but couldn’t find the net. The Indomitable Lions maintained their lead emerging with a merited 1-0 win.
