VIDEO: Zamalek trashed Leopards 4-1  | CAF Champions League

Zamalek crushed Congo’s AC Leopards 4-1 as both sides finished with seven points each.

Leopards took the lead in the Red Sea resort of El-Gouna when Rudy Bhebey-Ndey sent a delicate lob over Zamalek keeper Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed from a tight angle after 25 minutes.

But Zamalek, who incurred the wrath of their supporters with a series of disappointing results as they extended their trophy-less run to five years, roared back in style.

Playmaker Mohamed Ibrahim equalized eight minutes later with a simple tap-in after Ahmed Tawfik squared the ball for him following a neatly-worked counter attack.

Winger Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala’ put the hosts in front on the stroke of halftime following a fine individual effort and towering striker Ahmed Gaafar added the third with a powerful header in the 58th minute.

Gaafar notched his second of the night seven minutes later to complete the rout and give Zamalek their second win in six games.

Zamalek and Leopards finished level on seven points, one behind South Africa’s Orlando Pirates and four adrift of leaders Ahly, who both qualified for the semis.
