Ahmed Fathi arrives in Lagos

Ahmed Fathi arrived to Lagos to attend the CAF gala on January 9.

Fathy was named in the short list of the best player based in Africa along with newly retired countryman Mohamed Abu Trika and Nigerian Sunday Mba.

Supersport.com has been informed that Al Ahly head coach Mohamed Yousef did not want to let his player go, especially since they have a very important match in the Egyptian League on Thursday against ENPPI.

“The technical staff allowed me to travel, and I have to thank them as this is a great honor for me and I am thrilled to be in Lagos” Fathy said.

The player who was born in 1984 did not play the first and second matches this season with his team in the Egyptian League due to an injury he now has shrugged off.

“Sure I want to win the prize, but if Abu Trika wins it, i will be happy as well. We both played a very tough season without a domestic league and we both deserve it” Fathy added.
