Ahly will be desperate to avoid more slip-ups when they face ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday, having suffered a shock Champions League elimination at the hands of Libya’s Ahly Benghazi.
The Red Devils, winners of the past two Champions League editions, slumped to a 3-2 loss at home to Benghazi to bow out with a 4-2 aggregate defeat which raised further speculation over the future of coach Mohamed Youssef.
Although they lie fourth in the table with 19 points, three behind second-placed Ittihad of Alexandria and seven adrift of leaders Smouha, they will move second if they win their two matches in hand.
They must quickly pick themselves up and overcome eighth-placed ENPPI, who are also seeking to snap an eight-match winless run.
