Al Ahly trashed Maqassa 4-1 in a postponed match in the Egyptian Premier League.
The Reds urgently needed the win as their qualification for the final mini-league phase of the domestic competition was under serious threat.
The victory, their first in four matches, also comes as reconciliation for the club’s fans angry after Ahly’s recent elimination from the African Champions league, which was then followed with a disappointing 1-1 draw with ENPPI in the Premier League.
Ahly climbed to second place in Group A with 23 points, narrowing the gap with leaders Smouha to only three points.
