Nkana coach Masauso Mwale has died in a road traffic accident on the eve of his clubs CAF Confederation Cup Group B match against Sewe Sport of Cote d’Ivoire in Kitwe on Saturday.
Mwale died at round 19h30 just outside Kitwe in the Maposa area along the Kitwe-Ndola Dual Carriageway.
“Coach Masauso died following a car accident three hours ago (19h30),” Nkana vice chairperson Njobvu said.
“His car overturned several times just outside Kitwe as he was driving back to join the team in camp in Kitwe.”
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa also confirmed the tragic news.
“Masauso Mwale aged 51 of Kitwe also Nkana coach sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. Accident happened when the motor vehicle was being driven from east to west and in the process overturned due to excessive speed,” Kasosa stated.
