Al Ahly right winger Ahmed Fathi will fly to England on today (Friday) to train with English Premier League side Arsenal after the club expressed interest in signing the Egypt star this summer, Ahly football supervisor Alaa Abdel-Sadeq announced.

“Fathi will go for trial with Arsenal for one week in a step to join the Premier League side if he passes medical and technical tests there,” Abdel-Sadeq told Egyptian Media on Friday.
“He has promised the Ahly management that he will return to the team if he fails to reach an agreement with Arsenal,” he added.
The 29-year-old winger’s contract with Ahly expired this summer and he is now able to join any team in a free transfer.
Fathi is one of the Red Devils most consistent performers, thanks to his steady defensive displays. The former Ismaily player joined Ahly in 2007 after leaving England’s Sheffield, where he had little success.
He has experience with the English Premier League, having played for Hull City on loan in 2013.
