Al Ahly retained top spot | CAF Confederation Cup

Ahly retained top spot in their CAF Confederation Cup group with a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast’s Sewe Sport.

A fourth minute penalty converted by Walid Soliman and won by debutant Mohamed Farouk was enough for the African champions.

Ahly top Group B with eight points from four games, three more than Etoile Sahel, who lost 4-3 at Nkana Red Devils on Friday.

The home game witnessed debut appearances for promising forward Farouk and Egypt international Bassem Ali, who both signed from Arab Contractors recently.

Veteran Hossam Ghaly, who captained the Reds, also made his returning debut after re-signing from Lierse.
