Sunderland will be looking to add to their seven additions with the latest player to be linked being Mohamed Salah from Chelsea.
Sunderland can boast to players interested in joining on loan is their previous track records with loanees and how it has helped them develop their careers. It is a tough position for the club as they have failed to capitalise on their loan signings by not turning them into permanent deals but it is an option we must use in order to have a better season and avoid another scrap near the bottom.
Salah, 22, would be a great signing on loan and with Congertons Chelsea connections it may be a realistic option if the London club are willing to let him leave to help him learn the Premier League by gaining more match experience on Wearside. Chelsea paid Basel 13m in January but he has only featured in ten of their games, managing two goals in these brief spells under Jose Mourinho.
The Egyptian winger has also been relieved of serving national service for his country after the Egyptian Prime Minister personally cancelled his potential military call-up. So with no roadblocks other than Mourinho it would be a real coup if Sunderland managed to persuade Salah to become a hit at the Stadium of Light.
There will be a lot more swings and roundabouts in the final nine days of this transfer window but hopefully once bigger clubs finalise their deals, the dominoes will fall into place for Poyet so he can get his targets over the line.
