Ahly romped to a comprehensive 6-1 victory over lower tier Tahta in the Egypt Cup round of 32 at Cairo Stadium on Thursday.
The Egyptian league holders went into the dressing rooms four-one up, thanks to goals from Walid Soliman, Abdallah El-Saied, Mohamed Naguib and debutante winger Islam Roshdy.

Tahta, however, had a glimmer of hope shortly before the break, with Yasser Raafat pulling one back from inside the box to make it 4-1.
The first half also witnessed the dismissal of a player from Tahta for two bookable offences shortly before Roshdy’s goal, as the below-par visitors looked en route to being handed a heavy defeat.
After the restart, Roshdy had to see a goal ruled out for offside by the referee in what could have been Ahly’s fifth of the night.
Egypt striker Emad Meteb then scored his side’s fifth from the spot, just few minutes after wasting a penalty kick which was saved by the keeper.
Meteb, who also spurned a spotkick in the league against Masry, then came back to score the sixth goal to help his side cruise to the last-16.
