Zamalek failed to earn their ninth successive win in the Egyptian League after being held to a 1-1 draw against Gouna on Monday.
It was Zamalek’s first draw under the helm of Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira, who took charge of the team last February.
Despite Monday’s draw, Zamalek remain on the top of the league table with 70 points, 9 points ahead of second placed ENPPI, who played three matches more.
The White Knights, who are chasing their first league title since 2004, need 15 points from their upcoming nine matches to win the title.
