Martin Jol arrived early Monday morning in Cairo Airport to join the biggest club in Africa Al Ahly.
Former Tottenham and Fulham boss Martin Jol has been appointed head coach of Egyptian Premier League leaders Al Ahly.
Jol, who also managed Ajax and Hamburg, has agreed an 18-month contract and will take charge of his first match on March 5 when his new club play Misr El-Maqasha.
Jol’s new club are three points ahead of Zamalek who earlier this week appointed former Scotland, Rangers, Aston Villa and Birmingham boss Alex McLeish as successor to ex-Spurs striker Mido as coach.
Jol managed Spurs between 2004 and 2007 and led the north London club to back-to-back fifth placed finishes in the Premier League in his first two seasons.
The Dutchman’s spell at Craven Cottage, meanwhile, saw Fulham finish ninth in the top flight, collecting 52 points in 2011-12 – one off the club’s record tally.
However, Jol was sacked in December 2013 after a poor run of form and Fulham were relegated at the end of that season.
