Arsenal & Stoke City fight over Ramadan Sobhi

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents to emerge from Egypt and his impressive form for Al Alhy, which has seen him score three goals and provide seven assists this season, has alerted a number of potential suitors in Europe.

Arsenal are said to be long-term admirers of Sobhi, who broke into the Egyptian national side at the age of just 17, and apparently tried to bring him to the Emirates on a trial period earlier in the year – but a deal failed to materialise.

And ESPN FC claim the Gunners have fallen behind the pecking order to sign Sobhi with Premier League rivals Stoke making an offer to bring the youngster to the Britannia Stadium.

The Potters were said to have been monitoring Sobhi closely over the last couple of weeks and positive reports from scouts have reportedly seen them bid to sign the player this summer.

Stoke finished ninth in the league last season and Mark Hughes is keen to build a squad capable of pushing for a top-six finish next season, so Sobhi could prove to be a valuable addition.

It is claimed Al Alhy are reluctant to lose Sobhi, but know they will face a battle to stop the teenager leaving for Europe in the summer.

Italian side Roma have also been credited with interest in the attacking midfielder, who has scored one goal in six appearances for his country.
