Al Ahly SC 0-0 WAC Casablanca
Egyptian giants Al Ahly earned their first point at the group stage courtesy a barren draw with visiting Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco on Saturday in Alexandria.
The Red Devils once again paid the price for the profligacy in front of goal as Wydad maintained their unbeaten run at this stage as well as their place at the summit of the standings.
The Casablanca-based side has seven points whilst Ahly rests at the bottom after bagging just a point from three games. Zambias Zesco United moved to six points after a 3-1 win over ASEC Mimosas of Cote dIvoire in the other Group A match earlier in Ndola. The Ivorians are a place above the bottom with three points.
Zamalek SC 1-2 Mamelodi Sundowns
Zimbabwe-import Khama Billiat continued with his fine streak scoring the winner as Mamelodi Sundowns shocked Egyptian giants, Zamalek 2-1 in the Group B Day 3 fixture on Sunday in Cairo.
Billiat, named the Most Valuable Player after the recently ended South African Premier League, also had a hand in the visitors opener early in the game before settling the tie midway into the second half to push Sundowns three points clear at the summit of the standings.
With the maximum six points from a group reduced to three teams following the disqualification of ES Setif of Algeria, the Brazilians stand a good chance of advancing to the last four, with five-time winners Zamalek trailing with three points and Nigerias Enyimba without a point in that order.
