DONE DEAL: Mido Gaber joins Al Ahly

Egyptian champions Ahly made their fourth summer signing after acquiring the services of Maqassa’s attacking midfielder Mido Gaber, the club announced on Tuesday.

“Gaber completed his move to the club after penning a five-year contract,” Ahly said on their official website.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of interest from Ahly and Cairo rivals Zamalek after impressing with Maqassa last term, scoring six goals as his side finished ninth in the 18-team Egyptian Premier League table.

The Red Devils are seeking to make up for the departure of 19-year-old prodigy Ramadan Sobhi who has recently joined English Premier League club Stoke City.

Gaber is their fourth close-season acquisition as they aim to bolster their squad to maintain their Egyptian football dominance, having won the league nine times in 10 seasons.

They have also signed striker Marwan Mohsen from Ismaily, Tunisian left wing-back Ali Maaloul from Sfaxien and goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi from Petrojet.
