Cairo’s Al Ahly decline Atletico Madrid friendly
Al Ahly declined an offer to play a friendly game against La Liga’s Atletico Madrid in January 2017 due to their international players’ participation with Egypts national team in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
A sports’ marketing company offered to organise a friendly game between the Egyptian Premier League title holders and Atletico Madrid during the winter break but Ahlys technical staff refused the offer as the first team squad will witness the absence of the key players.
Egypt will take part in the Africa’s Cup of Nations tournament that kicks off on 14 January until 5 February in Gabon.
