Match Info:
CAF Champions League round of 32
Saturday at 18:30 Cairo Local Time
Venue: Al-Salam Stadium Cairo
The Cairo giants are participating in Africas most prestigious club tournament directly from the round of 32 as the Egyptian Premier League title holders.
Al Ahly currently lead the Egyptian League table with 52 points after playing 20 games.
Cairo giants Al Ahly will face Bidvest Wits F.C Saturday in the Champions League first leg.
Bidvest defeated Reunion opponents Saint Louisienne 3-1 in Johannesburg thanks to goals from Daine Klate, Sifiso Myeni and Cuthbert Malajila.
This saw Wits win 4-3 on aggregate and secure a showdown with Egyptian giants Ahly in the next round, set for March 10-12 and 17-19.
“We are not scared of them, but we respect them as one of the biggest teams in Africa, Bidvest Wits forward Thabang Monare told KickOff.com on Thursday
“We are going there aware that we should be on our toes if we hope for a good result.”
Ahly, on the other side, will be looking to make the most of their fans presence at El-Salam Stadium, after a limited number of 5000 supporters were allowed to attend the game.
Manager Hossam El-Badry, who led Ahly to the Champions League title in 2012, decided to prepare for the round of 32 clash with all his African squad leaving no players out of the first-leg tie.
The return leg takes place on March 17.
