Elneney wins first silverware of the season | VIDEO
Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny won his second title with Arsenal after the Gunners beat Chelsea 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the English Community Shield on Sunday.
The 25-year-old played the full game and was one of Arsenal’s best performers. He could have also scored on 59 minutes when his cross-cum-shot was superbly tipped over by Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois.
Chelsea winger Pedro was dismsissed with 10 minutes remaining for a reckless tackle from behind on Elneny.
Elneny was also part of Arsenal’s side that won the FA Cup last season, also at the expense of Chelsea.
The Egyptian international joined Arsenal in January 2016 from Swiss giants Basel and quickly adapted to life in the elite Premier League.
He was a key member of Arsenal’s side in the second half of the 2015-16 season and his only competitive goal to date was a memorable strike against Barcelona in a UEFA Champions League last-16 clash at the Nou Camp.

However, he only played a bit-part role last season, making 14 league appearances and providing an assist. He also played 5 matches in the Champions League, three in the EFL Cup and two in the FA Cup.
