Amr Warda will sue Portuguese NewsPaper over false statements

Egypt winger Amr Warda has hired a Portuguese-based law firm to sue those responsible for propagating “false statements” about him, apologizing to his fans and club for having to “hear such ugly allegations.”

Portuguese website Record.pt recently suggested that Warda may be kicked off his newly joined Portuguese club for allegedly sexually harassing two of his teammates’ wives.

The 23-year-old player, who moved last week to Clube Desportivo Feirense from Greek side PAOK for one season on loan, has strongly denied the allegations.

“Meanwhile, I will focus on my career and do my best everyday to improve my skills to help my club and my national team,” the player said in a statement.

Warda came through the youth ranks of Cairo giants Ahly before moving to Alexandria-based Ittihad on a season-long loan in 2014.

He then joined Panetolikos in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer and was called up by Egypt coach Hector Cuper for the African Cup of Nations in Gabon, where the Pharaohs lost the final to Cameroon 2-1.
