Cairo stadium to host Egypt upcoming friendly games
The Egyptian national team will return to play at Cairo Stadium after the national teams games moved to Borg El Arab Stadium for security issues.
The national team will return to play at the historic stadium, Cairo Stadium Manager Ali Darwish told Egypt Today on Thursday.
Minister of Youth and Sports Khaled Abdel Aziz asked the officials to allow the Egyptian national team to play friendly games before the World Cup at Cairo Stadium.
Darwish added, Cairo Stadium is the easiest to secure as it has many internal and external gates, and we have many security cameras.
Asked about the stadiums condition, Darwish said, better than any stadium in Egypt.
Cairo Stadium was opened in 1960 and hosted the most important games in the history of Egyptian football for the Egyptian national team, Al Ahly and Zamalek.
Egypt defeated Congo 2-1 on Sunday, October 8, at Borg El Arab Stadium to qualify to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
