Zamalek defeat Ismaily 4-1 & reach Egypt Cup final | VIDEO
Zamalek reached their fifth Egypt’s Cup final in the last six years after defeating Ismaily 4-1 in the semis at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab Stadium on Monday.
Zamalek forward Youssef ‘Obama’ Ibrahim opened the scoring in the 11th minute, giving his side an early lead, while defensive midfielder Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz doubled the lead nine minutes later.
Obama made it 3-0 on the hour-mark and Congolese striker Kabongo Kasongo completed the rout two minutes later.
Ismaily’s forward Mohamed Sadeq scored the consolation goal for his side with 15 minutes remaining.
In the final, Zamalek will face the winners of Tuesday’s clash between Assiouty and Smouha in the other semi-final.
The White Knights, who are bidding for their 26th Egypt Cup’s title, hope to win the title to rescue their catastrophic season, which saw the club end fourth on the league table and exit the Confederation Cup from the round of 32.
