Egypt 46th in the FIFA’s monthly rankings

Egypt have kept their place in FIFA’s monthly global football rankings published on Thursday, remaining in 46th place.

The Pharaohs, who reached the World Cup competition for the first time since 1990, did not play last month and have maintained their overall position in the rankings.

Egypt are fifth among African countries, behind Tunisia (14), Senegal (28), Congo DR (38) and Morocco (42).

Egypt’s national football team, who are paired with Saudi Arabia, hosts Russia and South American powerhouse Uruguay in Group A, are third among Arab Countries.

FIFA’s May rankings saw no major position changes in the top 50 places, with Germany still in the lead, ahead of Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and Argentina.

Egypt made it into the world’s top-10 when they won three successive CAN trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

In other highlights from May, Kuwait was the best mover, jumping 16 places, while Palestine fell hardest, dropping 13 places.
