Al Masry defeat USM Alger again & reach CAF Confederation Cup semis | VIDEO

Egyptian side Masry continued their bid towards a first-ever African title after a first-half goal from Mahmoud Wadi, who also netted the winner in the first leg, gave them a 1-0 victory at USM Alger and a place in the Confederation Cup semi-final on Sunday.

The Palestinian striker netted the decisive goal on 34 minutes to silence an enthusiastic home crowd and leave the visitors needing three goals without reply to book a last-four berth.

Wadi, who scored in the first-leg with a superb backheel as Masry won 1-0, ghosted unmarked at the far post to send a free header home after making the most of an inviting cross.

The Port Said-based club qualified for the last four with a 2-0 aggregate win, setting up a meeting with Congolese club Vita Club.
Vita Club went through with a 4-2 aggregate win after holding Morocco’s Renaissance Sportive de Borkane to a 1-1 draw in the second leg on Sunday.

Masry have never won any continental titles. They reached the semi-finals of the defunct African Cup Winners’ Cup and CAF Cup in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
