Venue: Ismailia Stadium, Egypt
Referee: Neant Alioum (Cameroon)
Egyptian side Ismaily will have a tough mission against Club Africain of Tunisia in the Champions League on Friday at home as both sides seek to revive fledgling hopes in their group.
Ismaily slumped to a 2-0 late defeat to Congolese side TP Mazambe away in the group opener, while the Tunisian side were stunned 1-0 at home by Algeria’s CS Constantine.
“We played well in Lubumbashi, but fell late against an experienced and strong side,” Ismaily coach Cedomir Janevski told the CAF’s official website on Thursday.
“We should have had a draw at least. Its history now and we will give our all against Club Africain to return on track.
The Suez Canal side will play Friday’s clash without their defensive duo Mahmoud Metwally and Mohamed Magdy, both of whom will miss the game due to automatic suspensions.
Ismaily also will go without the efforts of team skipper Hosni Abd-Rabou, who announced his retirement on Wednesday.
On the other hand, the Tunisian side will be desperate to claim a positive result away in Ismailia to keep their hopes alive in the group, as a second defeat would minimise their hopes of advancing in the continental competition.
“Losing at home to CS Constantine was tough. But we have to carry on fighting and get a positive result from Ismailia,” Club Africain coach Chiheb Ellili told the CAF’s official website on Thursday.
