Egyptian league leaders Zamalek will have no choice but to win tonight when they host Maqassa at Petro Sports Stadium to cement their position at the top of the league table.

The White Knights played out an exciting 3-3 draw with Pyramids FC on Thursday, but they lost two precious points in the title race to remain on the league summit with 42 points, three points ahead of Pyramids FC and 12 off third-placed Ahly, who have two matches on their hand.

The draw against Pyramids stopped a nine-game winning streak by Zamalek and they will be looking to regain their winning rhythm against Maqassa, as they are bidding for their first domestic league title since 2014.

Zamalek coach Christian Gross has announced his list for Maqassa’s clash, which saw the absence of Tunisian fullback Hamdi Nagguez, who was dropped from the list for personal reasons.

Lively winger Moustafa Fathi continues his absence for the third consecutive time as he is yet to recover from a knee injury.

International Keeper Mahmoud ‘Gennesh’ Abdel-Rehim will also miss the Maqassa clash as he is serving a two-match ban, and Abdel-Gomaa was sent-off during the Pyramids FC clash.

However, Gross will regain the services of forward Youssef ‘Obama’ Ibrahim, who was suspended against Pyramids, and international defender Mahmoud ‘El-Wensh’ Hamdi, who makes his first appearance in Zamalek’s squad after around three month of absence due to a muscle injury.

On the other hand, Maqassa, who lie fourth on the league table with 30 points, will be looking to bounce back from their late defeat against Ahly to keep their place in the top four.

Maqassa slumped to a heavy 3-0 defeat to Ahly on Thursday in a game that saw a poor performance from Talaat Youssef.

The team seemed affected by the absence of their Ghanaian striker John Antwi, who will be available against Zamalek after recovering from his injury.
