Mido sacked by Al-Wehda for a Tweet!
Saudi club Al-Wehda announced on Tuesday the sacking of the team’s tactician Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ whose tenure came to an end in less than 3 months.
“The board of Al-Wehda club have decided the dismissal of the football team’s Egyptian tactician Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ and the club would like to thank him for his time with the team,” the Saudi side posted on their official Twitter account, without revealing any reasons for the decision.
However, many have ascribed the sacking to an offensive reply from Mido’s Twitter account to one of the club’s fans on Monday. The 36-year-old denied writing the reply, saying his account had been hacked.
Since his appointment in January, Mido has led the team in 13 matches, of which Al-Wehda won six, lost four and shared the spoils in three.
“Thanks to Al-Wehda board and thanks to the fans. I held the responsibility in tough conditions and with the support of God, the board, the players’ dedication, the technical, the administrative and the medical staff I was able to lead the team to outstanding performance and results which were hailed by everyone” Mido posted on Twitter after being sacked.
Al-Wehda, who did not win in their last three games, lie in sixth place on the local league table.
