SALAH speaks on his 50th league goal for Liverpool

Egypt winger Mohamed Salah says he is “very happy” with scoring his 50th league goal for Liverpool on Friday, which ended an eight-game drought the Pharaoh’s star scored for the first time in nearly two months; hitting the second goal as Liverpool came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1.

“I think, as a striker, you need to score. Always, I’m thinking to score,” Salah, who scored 44 times in different competitions in his maiden season at Anfield last term, told Sky Sports after the match.

The 26-year-old former Chelsea and Roma player took his tally to 18 league goals so far this season; just one goal behind top scorer Sergio Aguero of Man City.

“That’s goal number 50 for Liverpool in the Premier League, so that’s special. I’m very happy to score a goal to help the team. That’s the most important thing for us,” added Salah who became the eighth ever Liverpool player to score 50 Premier League goals.

Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp heaped praise on the Egyptian star after the match, saying: “It was never in doubt about him being a great player from my side.”

“It was goal number 50 for Liverpool, that’s an incredible number,” the German tactician added.

After Friday’s victory, Liverpool has moved back into the lead; two points ahead of champions Manchester City, who have a game in hand with six matches remaining.
