Sadio Mane Opens Up On Spat With Mohamed Salah Ahead Of Man Utd Clash

Sadio Mane has explained his angry reaction after being substituted during a Liverpool match back in August.

The Senegalese hotshot made headlines after it was revealed that he was upset by Mohamed Salah failing to play him in for what might have been an easy goal during a 3-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The player is said to have taken Salah’s refusal to pass to him very seriously and it was even suggested that he’d stopped speaking to the Egyptian star.

With Premier League action set to resume this weekend, Mane has again opened up on the incident, sharing how things played out with his teammate in the background. The forward says they’ve worked things out between themselves and there’s no longer an issue.

Speaking to Canal+ in an interview, Mane revealed Salah claimed that he did not see him.

“He told me ‘but Sadio, why are you angry?’,” he said (h/t Sport Witness). “I told him ‘you needed to give me the ball, Mo’ to which he replied ‘I didn’t see you. You know I’ve got nothing against you’.

“I knew that, but his reaction was a bit strange to me (laughs).

The former Southampton man also claimed that manager Jurgen Klopp was “pleasantly surprised” after learning his players had taken care of things themselves.

“We just talked, and everything was like before,” he explained. “We talked between ourselves, and then the manager called me into his office and we spoke. I told him it was already sorted and he was pleasantly surprised”.

The rest of the dressing room must have had a bit of fun over the whole thing. Roberto Firmino was caught making a funny face in reference to Mane and Salah following the game and the former says the entire team joked them about.

“Everyone was taking the p**s out of us,” he noted. “Wijnaldum, who likes to tease people, waited until everyone was there, came up to me and asked out loud ‘Mo Salah, why did Mane want to hit you?’ and the whole team started laughing.”
