Mo Salah shines against West Ham with a goal & assist

Egypt’s red-hot forward Mohamed Salah converted a penalty and dished out an assist to lead Liverpool to a 2-0 victory away to West Ham that edged them closer to a first Premier League title since 1990.

Salah opened the scoring in the 35th minute from the spot to take his tally to 12 league goals so far this season, five short of top scorer Jamie Vardy of Leicester City.

He then set up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for a second with a superb pass early in the second half.

Liverpool are on top of the table with 70 points, a staggering 19 clear of nearest challengers and defending champions Manchester City.

Divock Origi was felled as he was about to score from close-range, with Salah stroking the resulting penalty into the bottom corner, sending the keeper the wrong way.

He turned from scorer to provider seven minutes after the break following a counter-attack, releasing Oxlade-Chamberlain with a delightful diagonal pass.

The English midfielder shook off his challenger to break clear and fire past West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Salah was unlucky not to score again with 12 minutes remaining when his first-timer from the edge of the area struck the post.
