LIVE: Al Masry v RS Berkane | CAF Confederation Cup
Egypt’s Masry will probably need to win away from home against last season’s runners-up RS Berkane.
Masry were held to a 2-2 home draw by Morocco’s Berkane in the first leg of the competition’s quarter-finals, with forward Mouhssine Iajour scoring twice, including a late goal that broke the hearts of the home fans.
Given the stuttering form of Masry, even domestically, it’s hard to foresee them claiming a victory away from home.
However, new coach Tarek El-Ashri, who made his debut in the first leg, is adamant Masry can still pull off an upset.
“Our hope is still there. We will do our best to progress despite the first-leg draw,” he said in a television interview.
“We are well aware that we are representing Egypt, not just our club, so we have to rise to the occasion.”
