Man City trashed Arsenal 3-ZERO | Match Review

Manchester City barely broke sweat as they registered an easy 3-0 win over Arsenal in an English Premier League match played on Wednesday night at Etihad Stadium.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring at the stroke of half time before Kevin De Bruyne added the second through a penalty kick and Phil Fodden wrapped up the three points deep in injury time.

Substitute David Luiz delivered a horrendous show in a torrid 25-minute cameo appearance. Brought on as a substitute in the 24th minute following an injury to Pablo Mari, the Brazilian’s error led to Raheem Sterling’s opener (45+2) before he was sent off for hauling down Riyad Mahrez inside the penalty area four minutes into the second half.

Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne made no mistake from the spot before substitute Phil Foden rounded off the scoring to condemn Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta to a heavy defeat on his return to the Etihad Stadium.

City were also forced to end the game with 10 players when Spanish defender Eric Garcia was carried off on a stretcher after a collision with his keeper Ederson. City were not able to replace him as manager Pep Guardiola had used all five available substitutes.

The result sees City delay Liverpool coronation party as the Citizens consolidate their position in the top four.

Arsenal, on the other hand, suffered a massive setback in their chase for a Champions League slot and now they are eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with nine games remaining.
