SAMY MORSY NAMED WIGAN ATHLETIC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Wigan Athletic captain & Egyptian International player Sam Morsy has been voted by WIGAN supporters as the Player of the Season 2019/2020.
Morsy received 42% of the overall vote, after leading his side admirably through a challenging campaign, resulting in a sequence of just two defeats from the final 18 fixtures of the Sky Bet Championship season, in which Latics secured 10 victories, including a record-breaking 8-0 triumph over Hull City at the DW Stadium.
Samy captained Latics in 43 of the 46 Championship matches during the season, including all nine of the club’s games following the restart in mid-June.
Thank you to all who voted, been so proud to captain this club and whatever happens, the unity we have all shown will make sure wigan will go from strength to strength https://t.co/CzqhK1YwgU

The Egypt international scored three goals in 2019-20, including a crucial winning strike against Premier League-bound West Bromwich Albion in Latics’ 1-0 victory at the Hawthorns in February, having led Latics to a 1-0 win against Championship winners Leeds United at Elland Road earlier in the month.
