Zamalek might finish 3rd in the Egyptian League
Zamalek held to a goalless draw by Wadi Degla on Thursday, slipping to third place on the league table with 62 points, just one point behind Pyramids FC, who defeated FC Masr 1-0 on Wednesday.
Thursday’s draw put Zamalek’s hopes for securing a champions league spot in doubt with two matches remaining in the Egyptian League.

The first half was a boring affair, as the hosts appeared incapable of creating a real threat against a Degla side who were content on dominating possession in the midfield.
The first and only threat came in the third minute when Tunisian forward Rafik Kabou received a nice pass that gave him a clear shot, but Zamalek keeper Mohamed Abou Gabal denied the ball.
Zamalek coach Jaime Pacheco made three substitutions after the pause in order to intensify his attack, but the trio failed to make their presence felt.
On the other hand, Wadi Degla had two goal-scoring opportunities, but Zamalek’s keeper rescued his side on both occasions in the 52nd and 70th minutes respectively.
Both sides seemed exhausted due to the games being played in succession, and many players from both teams suffered from muscle problems.
The White Knights’ only chance was in the 90th minute when Degla keeper Mohamed Abdel-Moncef blocked Mostafa Mohamed’s nice header in injury time.
