UEFA Champions League Group Stage Predictions

After a long international break, the UEFA Champions League is back with some great games for Football fans worldwide to tune in. We’ll go over some of these games, analyzing them, and based on that, we will give our verdict on favorites for the following UCL games:

This piece of content was written by our author, Kate Richardson, whose profile can be seen here.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND – CLUB BRUGGE KV

In the fourth matchday of Group F of the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund will host Club Brugge. The match will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

We expect a lively duel, but with natural favoritism for the hosts who are in good form in the group. After starting with a defeat in Italy against Lazio in Rome, Dortmund won the next two games and currently leads the group with 6 points, one more than the Italians.

The Belgians are still contenders to make it to the next phase, though. Club Brugge is currently sitting in the third position with 4 points gained. It is naturally hard to finish top two in this Group, so we see Brugge as favorites to finish third, and thus, going to the UEFA Europa League.

Playing at home, being in a good shape through Erling Haaland, and taking advantage of the weaknesses that Club Brugge has shown, we believe that Dortmund will win this match and grab the 3 points!

RENNES – CHELSEA

In the match of the fourth round of the Group E of the UCL, Frenchside Rennes will be hosting Chelsea, from London. The match will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

The Londoners are slightly favorite, due to their so-far great campaign in the Group. Rennes is in the third place of the group, with only 1 point conquered. Chelsea are leaders with 7 points, the same as Sevilla who are second and under normal conditions will not have great difficulties in guaranteeing one of the first two positions and the respective qualification for the round of 16 of the European Cup!

Despite playing away from home, Chelsea are sharp and with a very fine-tuned aim, giving reason to believe that they will go back to England with a victory!

FC KRASNODAR – SEVILLA

Also in Group E’s 4th Matchday, we have Krasnodar welcoming Sevilla in Russia. The game will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at the very same time the Rennes – Chelsea duel.

We are expecting a Sevilla win, as they are doing better in the UCL so far than the Russians. Krasnodar are in the last place of the group, with only 1 point added, in the tie at Rennes’ ground on Matchday 1.

Going forward in this group seems too optimistic for this Krasnodar side, but third place gives access to the Europa League and can also be interesting. Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla are second, with 7 points out of 9 possible, the same as Chelsea who lead the group and have all the conditions to seal the qualification for the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Despite playing as visitors, Sevilla should know how to take advantage of the Russians’ defensive weaknesses to travel back to Spain with 3 points in the group!

PSG – LEIPZIG

Now this is a very interesting game in the fourth round of group H. German side RB Leipzig is set to host Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, November 24.

We predict a spectacular duel between two clubs with a lot of talent on the front and who like to play aggressive football. The Germans are in second place in the group with 6 points added and surprisingly beat PSG in the first round game in Germany 2-1.

The French have not been at their natural level and occupy the third place with only 3 points added, making this match a true final, since in case of defeat the Parisians may already be away from the round of 16 of the UCL.

In a match between two emblems with a lot of offensive talent and whose games have been very productive in terms of goals, we believe in an open duel, with chances of goal from both sides and more than 2.5 goals!

Conclusion

So, basically, Our picks for the aforementioned matches are: Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Sevilla, and over 2.5 goals in PSG – Leipzig. Chances are good we will get everyone of them right, but we shall not forget it is football, and thus, the unpredictable factor is always present.
