Al Ahly new stadium will be the 3rd largest stadium in Egypt
Egypt & Africa’s TOP football club, Al Ahly SC, have finally received all the necessary permits to fulfill their ambitions to build their own stadium.
Up until recently, Al Ahly has been sharing Cairo’s International Stadium with Zamalek FC, their biggest rival in the league. Afterward, in 2019, they moved to Al Salam Stadium (then rebranded as Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium) which they shared with El Entag El Harby club.
[xyz-ihs snippet=”outbrain-in-article”]Despite several broken promises from previous administrations concerning building the new stadium, the Red Devils are now one step closer to their very own venue thanks to club president Mahmoud El-Khatib’s efforts.
The football venue is set to begin construction in the El Sheikh Zayed district on May 1st, 2021.
The new stadium will have 60,000 seats, which would make it the third-largest stadium in Egypt after Borg El-Arab 86,000 seats and the Cairo International Stadium 74,100.

The event is attending by Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Essem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and New Urban Communities, Giza governor Ahmed Hafez, along with several of the club’s iconic names and former players
On their part, Al Ahly’s board of directors expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude to president Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his great support to Egyptian sports and all its institutions, including Al Ahly.
