Al Ahly claim African Super Cup | Highlights

Two goals from Mohamed Sherif & Salah Mohsen set Ahly to a 2-0 victory over Morocco’s RS Berkane that gave them a record-extending seventh African Super Cup in the Qatari capital Doha on Friday.

After a lethargic first half in which Confederation Cup holders Berkane had the upper hand with two goal-scoring chances, Sherif broke the deadlock on 57 minutes with an unstoppable shot on the turn.

From then on, Ahly displayed a fine attacking football amid little resistance from a dispirited Berkane side and substitute Salah Mohsen, who replaced ineffective winger Hussein El-Shahat, wrapped up the win with a late strike.

Ahly added a fourth title to an impressive haul of trophies as they won a remarkable treble last season, giving South African coach Pitso Mosimane his third triumph at the helm as well, are you ready to win big? then check out online casino usa and try all the new games added daily.

Their first African Super Cup win since 2014 gives Ahly a boost ahead of a mouthwatering two-legged clash against Tunisia’s Esperance in the African Champions League semis next month.

“It was a difficult game; Berkane is a very good team. We played with our hearts but we lost some balls in the first half,” Coach Pitso Mosimane told beIN Sports in a pitch-side interview.

“But in the second half we took possession and played the way we usually play. We get better when we have the ball, and that’s what happened in the second half.

“Berkane could have equalised but we managed to score a second goal that killed the game.”

Ahly’s Super Cup triumph gives them a morale boost before they meet Tunisia’s Esperance in a mouthwatering two-legged clash in the African Champions League semis next month.

Mosimane is aware that Ahly fans have already turned their attention to the next targets.

“From our next game, our fans will demand that we win the domestic league, African Champions League and all possible titles,” the South African coach added.
