15:00 ET Canada-USA | 21:00 Cairo Local Time

Venue: Al Ahly Stadium

Al Ahly will face Enppi on Saturday without in-form striker Mohamed Sherif and with no room for error as they seek to bridge a two-point gap with leaders Zamalek in the final stages of the Egyptian Premier League.

The Red Devils were in the driving seat until they were held to a 1-1 draw by Ismaily on Wednesday, which paved the way for Zamalek to move two points clear on top of the table with only five matches remaining.

Al Ahly cannot afford to drop more points if they are to keep alive their chances of winning a sixth successive league title, and they will be hoping that Zamalek stumbles against Ismaily in the earlier kick-off on Saturday.

“It’s not over yet. We have to focus and believe,” Al Ahly’s South African coach Pitso Mosimane said.

“We lost two points and we know it’s difficult, but football doesn’t work like that.”

Sherif’s absence will deprive Al Ahly of much-needed firepower against Enppi, with a hamstring injury that he sustained against Ismaily likely to keep him out of action for at least 10 days.

The Egyptian international striker has been in inspired form this season as he tops the league’s scoring chart with 19 goals, a tally no Ahly player has managed since the 2002/03 season.

Sherif opened the scoring against Ismaily before being taken off, leaving Ahly struggling to convert a slew of goal-scoring chances in the dying minutes.

Either Marwan Mohsen or Congolese Walter Bwalya will deputize for him against Enppi, although both have been misfiring this season.

Al Ahly will also miss Moroccan defender Badr Benoun, who was left out of the match’s squad having just recovered from a COVID-19 infection.

Enppi will be looking to snap a run of three draws. They lie seventh in the table with 39 points.
