Summer saw Chelsea take home the Champion’s League trophy for a second time and established the Blues as the best club in Europe.
Fans were hoping that the club could continue this success, and their faith was rewarded with another trophy win from the Super Cup final last week. Now, the opening game of the Premier League weekend was a decisive victory as Chelsea hammered Crystal Palace who had traveled to the bridge for the tie. Everyone performed in the recent game and fans can expect the rest of the season to be more of the same, especially when the likes of Romelu Lukaku grace the team.
Chelsea have been winning game after game in recent memory, and Thomas Tuchel has transformed the side since taking up the reigns from deposed Frank Lampard. Though the team is in great form, Tuchel will be utilizing the current transfer window to bolster the squad and make it even more competitive. One mega signing that has already been completed is the transfer of Lukaku from Inter Milan. This is a great addition to the team, especially considering Lukaku’s achievements of last season. With his help, Lukaku helped Inter win the league and knock defending champions Juventus off the podium. Lukaku was also named in UEFA’s team of the tournament as he had scored an impressive four goals in the competition before being knocked out.
There is no doubt that Lukaku is a quality striker – he boasts an impressive goalscoring record at whatever club he signs for. He can be expected to score at least 20 goals a season, which is something that Chelsea are in desperate need of right now. One only must look at the attacking talents of Manchester United and their recent 5-2 win over Leeds United to see how great goal scorers can impact a game. The club’s top goal scorer last season was Tammy Abraham, which is simply not good enough for a club of Chelsea’s status. However, the Blues have recently sold the youngster to Roma, so Lukaku has come in to act as the club’s primary striker.
The transfer of Lukaku had only been a recent prospect for Chelsea; they were previously focused on landing wonderkid Erling Haaland from Dortmund. It soon appeared that the Norwegian would be an impossible target to raid from Dortmund following the departure of Jadon Sancho though, and so the focus switched to the Belgian. Bookmakers, as always, had a field day with creating odds for these kinds of transfers, but those who want a different gambling experience will find that casinos, a good example can be found here, might offer a different kind of fun.
The signing of Lukaku is a great step forward for Chelsea and the club will likely see success straight away – Lukaku is no stranger to the Premier League and has already said he has a hunger this season. Chelsea fans will be in for a treat next week when it is expected he will start against Arsenal.
