LIVE: Pyramids FC v Smouha | Egypt Cup
Pyramids FC will face Smouha SC Tonight in Egypt’s Cup clash.
Egyptian side Pyramids FC have named former Zamalek and Ismaily coach Ihab Galal to replace Greek coach Takis Gonias ahead of the start of the new Premier League season that will kick off on 25 October.
Pyramids FC terminated the contract of Gonias after less than three months spent leading the team, thanking him for the short time he led the Premier League side.
The club announced that they will hold a press conference on Tuesday to introduce the new tactician Galal, saying on their official twitter account “Welcome our new coach,” with a photo of the Egyptian tactician.
The 54-year-old Galal left Egyptian Premier League outfit Ismaily after helping the Dervishes to keep their place in the domestic competition despite their poor starting run last season.
Galal coached Maqassa for three seasons from 2014 to 2017, before spending some time with Enppi and Zamalek clubs during the 2017-18 season. He coached Masry from 2018 until 2020, before returning to Maqassa again.
The “nomadic” coach – who changes teams frequently – is super familiar with various teams in the Egyptian Premier League, coaching in 224 games, winning 105 games and claiming the runners-up place of the domestic league for Maqassa in the 2016-17 season.
