Mosimane signs 2-year contract extension with Al Ahly

Ahly announced on late Tuesday that they are extending the contract of South African coach Pitso Mosimane for two more years, ending the controversy regarding his renewal.

The Reds revealed the extension on their official Twitter account after defeating Pyramids FC with three goals with no reply, topping the Egyptian Premier League’s standings.

There were local reports that Ahly and Mosimane had not been able to reach an agreement on the renewal, as the South African tactician requested a raise and bonuses which the Reds’ board refused, however, Ahly didn’t reveal any details about the extension.

Mosimane has led Ahly in 88 matches in which he achieved victory in 56 games, 25 ties, and lost in only seven games.

He also claimed two African Champions League titles in row, two African Super Cup titles, and two bronze medals at the FIFA Club World Cup for the Red Castle.

Mosimane will return to South Africa this week for the away leg of the CAF Champions League Group A encounter against Sundowns.
