LIVE: Pyramids FC v Al Ahly | Egyptian League | Derby

K.O. 21:00 Cairo local time | 15:00 ET Canada-USA

Venue: 30 June stadium
Referee: Carlos del Cerro Grande (Spain)

Ahly’s supporters will be hoping Ahly can replicate that form when they meet Pyramids, who are still in the race to win their maiden title.

“I’ve just taken charge of the team and I know that big challenges lie ahead. We are seeking to create a new strong character defined by high pressing and efficient attack,” said Soares, who left Portugal’s Gil Vicente to take over at Ahly.

“We will produce strong displays that can live up to the expectations of fans but we still need time because the packed fixture schedule makes things a little bit difficult.”

The Red Devils have finally laid their Pyramids ghosts to rest in recent games after being largely outplayed by the big-spending Emirati-owned club in the past few years.

Ahly crushed Pyramids 3-0 in the reverse league fixture last December before knocking them out of the Egypt Cup quarters with a 2-1 win last month.

They cannot afford to drop any points if they are to move level on top with leaders and defending champions Zamalek. Pyramids are also aware that any stumble against Ahly is likely to rule them out of the title race.

Zamalek top the table 54 points, four ahead of second-placed Pyramids. Ahly, who played two games less than the top two, are third on 48 points.
