Fakhreddine Ben Youssef scored a quickfire hat-trick as Egypt’s Pyramids FC eased past Sudanese side Hilal Al-Sahil 7-0 to qualify for the African Confederation Cup third preliminary round on Saturday.
Pyramids found little resistance despite losing Islam Eissa to a red card in the first half as they completed an emphatic 9-0 win aggregate win over two legs played in Cairo in the competition’s second preliminary round.
Their win over Hilal Al-Sahil is their biggest in a continental competition, eclipsing their 6-0 victory over Mauritania’s Nouadhibou in a Confederation Cup group-stage game in 2019.
Defender Ahmed Sami put Pyramids ahead as early as the fifth minute before Ben Youssef doubled their lead on 16 minutes following a fine individual effort.
The Tunisian forward scored his second of the night just three minutes later before Eissa made it 4-0 in the 24th minute.
A minute later, Ben Youssef completed his hat-trick following a one-on-one and Ramadan Sobhi added the sixth in the 29th minute after being set up by Moroccan defender Mohamed Chibi.

Eissa received a straight red card on the half-hour mark but there was still room for a seventh goal, Chibi opening his account following his summer arrival in the 68th minute.
