Portuguese Coach Rui Vitoria Summons Salah and Key Foreign-Based Players for Egypt’s National Squad
Egypt’s national squad is gearing up for the World Cup 2026 African qualifiers and the 2023 African Cup of Nations finals, with notable foreign-based players like Eintracht Frankfurt winger Omar Marmoush, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, and Trabzonspor’s winger Mahmoud “Trezeguet” Hassan rejoining the team after recovering from their injuries. Marmoush is expected to join the camp today.
Mohamed Salah was strategically rested during the September 8th match against Ethiopia, the final game of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, in order to conserve his energy for the busy schedule. He later rejoined the squad for a friendly match on September 12th, which Egypt lost 3-1 to Tunisia.
The Pharaohs initiated their camp on Monday, commencing with light training sessions in preparation for their upcoming friendlies against Zambia on October 12th and Algeria on October 16th. The camp is scheduled to run until October 17th.
