Al Ahly Chasing More Silverware at Home and Abroad

Al Ahly are aiming to cement their status as one of Africa’s football giants by claiming even more silverware between now and the end of the season.

Smarting from a heart-breaking semi-final exit in the African Football League (AFL), Al Ahly have set their sights on winning the Egypt Cup, CAF Champions League and Egyptian Premier League.

The quest begins with a bid to win the Egypt Cup for the 39th time, although familiar foes Zamalek will be eager to stop them in their tracks.

Egypt Cup

The Egyptian football scene is buzzing with anticipation as Al Ahly and Zamalek prepare to clash in the showpiece finale of the Egypt Cup.

The Red Devils have been on a relentless run throughout the tournament, showcasing their dominance from the round of 32 onwards.

They have conceded only a single goal in their path to the final, dispatching opponents by a combined scoreline of 8-1.

Their 3-0 victory against Egypt Premier League leaders ENPPI in the semi-finals solidified their status as the bookmakers’ favourites for the highly coveted title.

However, the memories of the 2020/21 final still linger, where Al Ahly suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat against Zamalek.

That result serves as a potent motivator for the Red Devils, who have won every single meeting between the two sides since that fateful day.

The White Knights, currently positioned 12th in the Egyptian Premier League table, will head into the final in impressive cup form.

They showcased their offensive prowess with a convincing 6-1 victory in the quarter-finals but faced a stiffer challenge in the semi-finals against Pyramids.

Needing last-gasp equalisers in both regulation and extra time, Zamalek were pushed to the edge by a ten-man Pyramids side before finally securing their place in the final through a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

This highly anticipated showpiece showdown promises to be an electrifying encounter, and is one which has already attracted plenty of interest on sportsbooks worldwide.

Numerous sports betting sites in Egypt are bracing themselves for a flurry of wagers on Al Ahly, mirroring the support they have received from bettors in other jurisdictions.

Punters have been keen to bet on the Egyptian powerhouse extending their recent winning streak over Zamalek and it would be a shock if they fail to land a payout.

CAF Champions League

While anticipation for the Egypt Cup showpiece is heating up, Al Ahly are also backing themselves to compete for silverware success on other fronts.

They are preparing for another deep run in the CAF Champions League after securing their place in the knockout stage.

The Red Devils are determined to reach the final of the competition, potentially extending their remarkable record to 17 appearances in the showpiece since its inception.

This feat would further solidify their position as African footballing royalty. Al Ahly’s recent history in the CAF Champions League paints a picture of undisputed dominance.

They have reached the final in each of the last four editions, securing the title on three occasions. Their most recent triumph came last season, defeating Wydad AC with a 3-2 aggregate win.

Their performance in the group stage this season suggests another dominant run to the final might be unfolding. Al Ahly advanced to the knockout phase with an impressive unbeaten record, collecting 12 points from six games, scoring six goals and only conceding one.

Young Africans, who finished second in Group D, were the only team to penetrate Al Ahly’s near-impregnable defence during the group stage, further highlighting their imposing presence in the competition.

The upcoming draw for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals will reveal who will stand in Al Ahly’s path as they aim to secure consecutive triumphs for the fourth time in their illustrious history.

With their unwavering determination and recent dominance, the Red Devils are poised to make a significant mark on the competition yet again.

Egyptian Premier League

The Egyptian Premier League season is still taking shape, but Al Ahly have already made a statement.

The Red Devils are yet to be defeated after seven games, with five wins and two draws solidifying their position as one of the strongest title contenders.

They have already netted 17 goals, conceding just one, putting them only one goal behind ENPPI despite playing eight fewer games.

This impressive start has fuelled speculation about a potential treble-winning campaign for Al Ahly.

Their involvement in other competitions is unlikely to impact their domestic dominance, especially with rivals failing to capitalise on the gap in playing time.

While only nine points separate them from the top, the odds favour Al Ahly to reclaim the Premier League title, and Egyptian bettors will be eager to profit from their surefire success.
