Ahly suffers first league defeat & Zamalek end season with a draw

Ahly’s impressive 22-match unbeaten streak in the Egyptian Premier League ended on Saturday when they were defeated 2-1 by Modern Sport in the final game of the season.

The league champions, who had achieved 21 consecutive victories and one draw before Saturday’s match, took the lead in the 54th minute with a goal from Omar Kamal. However, Modern Sport staged a dramatic comeback as Moroccan forward Abdelkabir El Ouadi equalized in the 84th minute, and Cameroonian substitute Arnold Eba scored the winner five minutes later.

This defeat ended Ahly’s 124-day unbeaten run, leaving them with 85 points at the top of the table. Modern Sport’s win moved them up to fourth place with 54 points.

Ahly’s coach, Sami Komsan, fielded a youthful lineup that included eight young players alongside regulars Omar Kamal, Kahraba, and Khaled Abdel-Fattah. Kahraba captained the team for the first time in his career with the club.

Zamalek concluded their tumultuous domestic season with a 2-2 draw against Baladeyet El-Mahalla on Saturday, securing a third-place finish in the final matchday of the Egyptian Premier League.

Wahid Mohsen gave Baladeyet El-Mahalla an early lead, but Zamalek’s Shikabala and Nasser Mansi reversed the scoreline. Despite this, Hamza Magdi’s late goal earned the relegated visitors a draw.

With this result, Zamalek retained third place in the league standings with 55 points, while Baladeyet El-Mahalla finished 16th with 27 points from 33 games.
