Achraf Bencharki Signed for two-and-a-half-years with Al Ahly

Cairo’s football giants, Al Ahly, have bolstered their offensive lineup by signing Moroccan striker Achraf Bencharki from Qatari team Al-Rayyan, as officially announced through their TV channel on Thursday.

The 30-year-old winger, Achraf Bencharki, mutually terminated his contract with Al-Rayyan after reportedly settling his release clause, enabling the Moroccan international to secure a free transfer to Egyptian champions Al Ahly.

Bencharki touched down in Cairo on Wednesday morning for his medical tests and to seal the transfer.

Al Ahly officially announced that the ex-Zamalek player has inked a two-and-a-half-year deal, with reports stating his annual salary will be around $1.3 million.

Achraf Bencharki moved to Al-Rayyan in July 2023 from UAE club Al-Jazira, where he scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists in 44 matches across all competitions.

The Moroccan forward came into the spotlight while playing for Al Ahly’s rivals, Zamalek, where he signed in 2019. Over four years, he notched up 41 goals and 28 assists in 109 games, helping the team win two Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cups, one Super Cup, and one CAF Super Cup.

Al Ahly, the current holders of the Egyptian Premier League, have been busy in the winter transfer market, adding to their roster with the acquisitions of defender Mostafa El-Esh from ZED FC, striker Nejc Gradišar from Hungary’s Fehérvár FC, and winger Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan from Trabzonspor in Turkey.
